Core Advantages

Sector-Specific Maritime Knowledge

Our maritime practice is not a peripheral offering. It is a core competency, built over years of handling Singapore shipping disputes, charter party negotiations, and insurance claims.

Cross-Jurisdictional Coordination

We coordinate across regional legal systems, ensuring that agreements and structures hold in the jurisdictions where they will actually operate.

Reliable Secretarial Compliance

ACRA submissions, board resolutions, and statutory registers managed without delays or errors — every filing handled as a legal obligation, not a formality.

Direct Partner Communication

Clients communicate with the person handling their matter — not through layers of assistants. Responses are considered, complete, and delivered within agreed timeframes.

Transparent Fee Structures

Fees are explained before engagement begins. Changes in scope are discussed and agreed before additional work proceeds. No billing ambiguity.

Structured Timelines

Each engagement includes a realistic timeline from the outset. Regular status briefings keep clients informed without the need to follow up for updates.

Professional Expertise

Over a Decade in Practice

The Pendara team has worked through maritime disputes under Singapore and English law, coordinated multi-party cross-border transactions across Southeast Asia, and maintained clean statutory compliance records for companies ranging from newly incorporated entities to established regional operations.

This depth of practice means that when an issue arises that sits between disciplines — a shipping contract dispute that involves corporate restructuring, for example — the team does not need to bring in outside expertise to handle the intersection.

  • Singapore Bar admitted counsel
  • SCMA associate membership
  • Regional transaction experience across 7 jurisdictions

Structured Processes

Organised From Day One

Each engagement begins with a written scope document. Milestones are mapped out with realistic timeframes, and deliverables — whether a case analysis memo, transaction document package, or compliance calendar — are clearly defined before work begins.

Our document management and communication protocols are built around what clients actually need: updates at sensible intervals, clear records of all correspondence, and documents that are ready for execution without last-minute scrambling.

  • Defined scope and milestones for every engagement
  • Secure document handling and storage
  • Regular status briefings built into the engagement

Client Communication

Direct, Consistent, Considered

Pendara does not use generic template responses or auto-generated status updates. When a client receives a communication from us, it has been written by someone who knows the matter.

We respond to client queries within one business day as a standard practice. For time-sensitive developments, we adjust accordingly. Clients are not expected to chase for information — that responsibility rests with us.

  • One business day response standard
  • Named point of contact for each matter
  • Proactive status briefings — not reactive updates

Transparent Pricing

No Billing Surprises

Our fees for each service reflect the actual scope of work involved. Maritime advisory at SGD 2,400 covers the case analysis memo, regulatory review, and regular briefings described in the service scope. Cross-border transaction support at SGD 1,850 includes the transaction roadmap and coordinated document package.

If a matter requires additional work outside the stated scope, we discuss that before proceeding. Clients are never presented with a bill that covers work they did not agree to.

  • Published rates that reflect the full scope
  • Written fee agreement before engagement begins
  • Scope changes discussed and agreed in advance

Outcomes That Hold

Work That Serves You Beyond the Matter

Our aim in every engagement is to produce work that remains serviceable long after the file closes — contracts that do not develop ambiguities, compliance records that withstand scrutiny, and transaction structures that function as intended in the jurisdictions they cover.

Repeat engagements and referrals from existing clients account for a substantial portion of our work. This reflects, we believe, clients' experience of receiving counsel that has practical utility rather than theoretical completeness alone.

  • 98% client retention across active matters
  • 320+ engagements completed without material disputes
  • Regular post-engagement check-ins for long-term clients

What Sets Us Apart

Distinctive Features of the Pendara Practice

Singapore Maritime Hub Positioning

Singapore handles over a fifth of the world's transhipment volume. Our maritime practice is designed specifically for this environment — familiar with MAS regulations, SCMA procedures, and the commercial realities of the regional shipping industry. Not a niche adaptation of general law.

Three-Practice Coherence

Our three practice areas — maritime, cross-border transactions, and corporate secretarial — connect in ways that create practical value. A client engaged in regional expansion often requires elements of all three simultaneously. Having them under one roof avoids the coordination gaps that arise from managing multiple firms.

Case Analysis Memo on Every Maritime File

Every maritime engagement concludes with a written case analysis memo — a document that records the legal position, the steps taken, and any residual considerations. Clients retain a clear record that can be referenced if related issues emerge later.

Compliance Calendar for Secretarial Clients

Secretarial clients receive a compliance calendar covering all statutory filing deadlines for the year. This calendar is updated as requirements change and shared with the client's designated contact — eliminating the risk of missed filings due to oversight or staff turnover.
